At De Wijntoren, we don't believe in being overly ambitious. We don't poke our noses into a glass, searching for the faint aroma of "wet dog's back." We love wine that's honest, exudes craftsmanship, and above all: wine that you simply enjoy.
During our tastings we leave etiquette aside and get down to business as usual: the Vibe Check .
What can you expect?
Over five rounds, we'll take you on a journey: from the European mud to the Groningen packing table. Whether we're slogging through the clay of France or driving along dusty country roads in Italy and Spain, we'll bring the finest finds straight to you. A down-to-earth discovery where you decide what's in the glass.
- The Vibe Check: Is it Fresh and Delicious , Cozy and Soft , a Powerful Cup , or a Liquid Candy ? You decide the category, not the etiquette.
- Guessing is allowed: Do you taste wine gums, apple pie, fresh grass, or a lollipop? There are no wrong answers, only your own taste.
- The Match: We're testing the relationship status between the wine and the food. Is it a perfect date , is the pair in the friend zone , or is it a toxic relationship ?
- The Reveal: We'll tell you the real story behind the bottle. Why we went to this particular winery and why this wine pairs so well with your Rendang.
Wine Wisdom: The Twist Cap
"Why isn't there a cork?" we often hear. It's simple: the craftsmanship lies in the bottle, not in the seal. A good screw cap keeps the wine incredibly fresh and fruity, exactly as the winemaker intended. No messing around with corkscrews, just enjoy it immediately.

We'll bring our stories (and the wine) to your garden, office, or living room. You set the tone. Already have a menu in mind? We'll find the wines that make a Perfect Date . Or do you have a specific preference, like just "Powerful" or "Deliciously Refreshing"? Anything is possible.
What we can do for you:
- Location of your choice: Your place, our wines.
- Topics that matter: From a "Tour de France" in a campervan to a deep dive into the European mud. Or would you rather focus on wines that perfectly complement a lavish BBQ?
- Snack check: We can expand the tasting with suitable bites, and together we'll see if the combination makes for a Perfect Date or if it ends up in the Friend Zone .
