🍇 Montepulciano

Powerful and convincing. A full-bodied Montepulciano as it was meant to be: ripe red fruit, soft herbs, and a subtle hint of oak from aging. Despite its strength, it remains beautifully balanced with a long, elegant finish. A pure wine that exudes tranquility in the glass.

Wine details

What do you taste?

Vinification

The Montepulciano grapes for Nicò catch the sun on the chalky clay soils around Lanciano, some 200 meters above sea level. Here, the vines are perfectly oriented south-southwest. Only in mid-October, when the grapes have reached their peak ripeness and strength, are they harvested by hand. In the cellar, the must is given ample time: the skins remain with the juice for ten days to release its intense color and flavor. The winemaker then presses very carefully to prevent abrasive tannins. The wine then "sleeps" for twelve months in small oak barrels (barriques). After this oak aging, it is given another three months in the bottle to fully develop its depth, roundness, and harmony.

Regional explanation

Abruzzo – Wine of Sun and Mountains

Abruzzo is where the rugged mountains meet the Adriatic Sea. A region with a deep winemaking tradition, where the sun and wind shape the character of the grapes. While the region is famous for its Montepulciano and Trebbiano, the Mediterranean climate here offers the perfect conditions for both strength and finesse. It's an authentic landscape where craftsmanship is passed down from generation to generation, and where nature truly reigns supreme.
