In het glas
Zodra je inschenkt, zie je direct een indrukwekkende, diepe kleur met paarse reflecties.

In de neus
Een warme geur vol rijpe zwarte kersen en verfijnde kruiden. De houtrijping in kleine vaten voegt hier een aangename warmte en een heel subtiel vleugje vanille aan toe.

In de mond
Stevig en geconcentreerd, maar nergens streng. Die houtrust heeft de wijn namelijk fluweelzacht gemaakt. De tannines zijn prachtig samengesmolten, waardoor hij een volle structuur heeft die simpelweg staat als een huis.

De afdronk
Blijft indrukwekkend lang hangen met een kruidig randje. Dit is echt het paradepaardje uit de Wijntoren, gemaakt voor de momenten dat je de tijd neemt voor een goed glas.

The power of this wine begins in the vineyard. On the chalky clay hills surrounding Lanciano, some 200 meters above sea level, the fifteen-year-old vines face the midday sun (south-southwest). Only in mid-October, when the grapes are at their peak concentration, are they harvested by hand. In the cellar, the winemaker takes his time: the skins remain with the juice for ten days to release all their color and aromas. After a gentle pressing to prevent harshness, the wine is aged for twelve months in small 225-liter oak barrels. After another three months of bottle rest, the harmony is complete.
